Fantastic views, idyllic natural countryside and rustic huts to stop off in make the region the perfect destination for active holidaymakers.

Guided hikes with certified hiking guides are also organised directly in the hotel during the week!

Grieswaldile local recreation zone

The park is just 500 metres away from the Gratschwirt and is a great place for relaxation, adventure, fun and games. There is a large playground with swings, sandpits and lots of other playground equipment for families with children and a fitness trail for sports enthusiasts.

Swimming in the Dolomites

Surrounded by lush green countryside with a unique view of the mountains of Val di Landro, you can relax and unwind in the natural bathing lake in Dobbiaco. Since the lake is filled with pure drinking water and the water is purified in a natural way, no chlorine is used, which makes bathing an especially pleasant experience. Splash around with the kids or simply enjoy a book in the tranquil natural surroundings with a unique view of the mountains, or relax after a strenuous hike by bathing in the Dolomites - UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lake is divided into a swimming area (2 m deep) and a non-swimming area (0.60 - 1.65 m deep – ideal for children). There are changing rooms, toilets, a bar and a large sun terrace.

Trenker wildlife park

Trenker wildlife park is situated in Altschluderbach opposite the Gratschwirt. Many animal species from the Alpine region can be found within touching distance here: deer, fallow deer, red deer, lynx and mouflon, wild boar, pheasant, eagle owl, snowy owl, raccoons, ducks, geese and many other animals. Gustav Mahler appreciated the beauty of this region and owned a house in which to compose in the heart of the wildlife park.

Cycling

The Dolomites region of the Three Peaks offers sensational tours – from easy to demanding.
The Gratschwirt lies right on the Pusterbike cycle path, which runs from Brunico via San Candido to Lienz (AT).

In San Candido there are connections to the cycle paths towards Sesto and to Lienz in East Tyrol - the route known as the Drau cycle path leads via Carinthia to Slovenia. For the return journey, there is also the possibility of taking bikes on the regional train of the Pustertal Bahn (limited spaces) or a bike shuttle.

Funbob on the Baranci

The Funbob on the Baranci – San Candido is the top summer toboggan run in South Tyrol. People of all ages hurtle down the aluminium rail into the valley. The mode of transport is a bob sleigh where you can regulate the speed yourself. Great fun for the whole family!

Motorcycle fans can look forward to plenty of winding roads in the biking paradise of Val Pusteria. Spectacular nature, switchbacks and winding mountain roads and last but not least many hours of sunshine ensure an unforgettable holiday. Whether Passo di Stallo, Passo delle Erbe, a Dolomites circular tour or day trip to the Giogo di Stélvio, you will be spoilt for choice.

Action-lovers can look forward to the first and largest high ropes course in Val Pusteria. It consists of 14 courses of different levels of difficulty. Various elements are anchored in the spruce and larch trees. Nets, beams, trunks, cable cars and bridges with lengths between 2 and 60 metres connect fixed platforms and provide fun, manageable tasks for the whole family.
