The Gratsch chapel

, at the Gratschwirt family hotel in Dobbiaco, in the Dolomites, begins immediately within a context of historical interest. Another vestige of the hotel’s important past, meaning the annexed “Gratsch Chapel”, is located right next to the Gratschwirt Hotel. The chapel was built between the end of the 17th and early 18th century and, since then, no carriage has ever passed by without stopping there. It should be recalled that at that time, the hotels at the foot of the Tre Cime were reserved exclusively for princes and kings.

So, already then, the Gratsch inn was used by travellers as a resting place.

Today, the Gratschwirt is renowned above all for its excellent cuisine: many tourists from throughout Val Pusteria come here for this very reason, or use the Gratschwirt as a departure point or intermediate stopping place for hiking or bike excursions or to go cross-country skiing in the winter.
